This handmade Olive Leaf Tea from Freshfield Grove is produced in small batches at our olive grove in the peaceful and pristine environment of the Coal River Valley, in South East Tasmania.
We’re a husband (Tasmanian) and wife (British) who decided to change our lifestyle from city-based office dwellers to rural Tasmanian self-sufficiency. We bought our grove in 2014 and haven’t looked back! Our adventures and passion for Tasmanian produce have led to us making this delicious olive leaf tea.
It’s the only olive leaf tea produced in Tasmania, and it’s available in very limited quantities both because of our unique production methods, and seasonal harvesting practices. It’s 100% Tasmanian olive leaf, tastes great, is caffeine-free, and is reported to have many health benefits.
Olive leaf is thought to have been used medicinally by the Ancient Egyptians, and more recently olive leaf tea has gained recognition in the Mediterranean region.
The aroma and flavour are quite complex with umami qualities, and become more pronounced with longer steeping of the leaves. Short steeping gives quite a mellow, almost sweet flavour, with some herbal tones. With longer steeping the colour is darker, the aromas are enhanced with citrus notes, and the flavour is more sophisticated, with some quinine-like bitterness.
Enjoy the mindful ritual of making tea by infusing 1tsp of olive leaf tea in a cup of hot water for 3-5 minutes. Each pack contains enough leaves to make 15-20 soothing cups of tea. Alternatively, add mint, lemon, and ice for a refreshing iced drink (recipe here).
This is what some of our customers are saying about it:
- “I have never tasted tea like it, it has a rich flavour and you can taste the olive but it isn’t overpowering. It has savory notes and at the same time it is very soothing.” (Petra, Food Blogger; UK)
- “We were pleasantly surprised by Fiona’s Olive Leaf Tea, and found it to be a soothing drink, yet full of lots of hidden health benefits.” (Gabrielle, Yoga and Meditation Teacher; Victoria, Australia)
- “I tried the tea and it wasn’t to my taste BUT I added some lemon to it and it was DELICIOUS. It was a really lovely pick me up first thing in the morning.” (Michael; Brisbane, Australia)
- “It’s really lovely – I thought it might be a bit like green tea, but it is so much smoother and doesn’t have a bitter aftertaste.” (Rebecca; New Zealand)
