Tales of Tasmanian Adventures in Olive Oil

What food do you miss when you’re not at home?

British food aisle

Many Aussie supermarkets have a foreign food section, which obviously includes British stuff, and this photo shows a particularly extensive range I came across today. I have to admit that most of these I’ve been able to manage without – I can’t recall the last time I had pickled cockles! The thing I really miss is a good curry, the Aussie versions just aren’t the same in my experience, although I’m more than happy to follow up any suggestions. What do you miss when you’re away? FFx

I'm a British doctor who married an Aussie, moved to Tasmania, and bought an olive grove. Now making extra virgin olive oil and olive leaf tea. I'd love you to join my adventures in the beautiful setting of Southern Tasmania.

  1. When I travel, I have to say (and this is going to sound Odd I have no doubt) I miss the BBQ Pork and Wonton Soup with Rice noodle – that is made right here in Australia (Darwin).. I buy it from one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. Go figure when I am in Asia – and hunt for anything remotely similar, no one can seem to pull it off 😦

    Murphy’s Law.. lol
